Achievements

CATER Education Initiative (Community Approaches to Education and Regeneration)

This project was developed to enhance and strengthen the role and relationship between community education provision and formal education with the goal of addressing under achievement and raising achievement levels across Belfast. It was set up in January 2000 with funding from the Belfast European Partnership Board.

Work has been carried out across Belfast to set up such facilities as homework clubs, after school study support and parent child activites in order to develop the link between community education and formal education. Funding for this project came to an end in June 2001. An evaluation of the CATER project was carrried out by Queen's University.
